How to Market a Small Business With A Limited Budget

We will tell you how to market your small business with little to no budget. If you’re a small business, you often don’t have a big marketing budget to spend on advertising on Facebook, Instagram, or Google.

You want to focus your advertising budget and marketing efforts on things that will give you the most significant return on investment. So we want to go through this real quick and tell you what we would do, that we’ve seen work amazingly well.

How you can implement them into your business

First of all, you should create a customer file of all the past customers that you have in your business or just a network of people that could be potential customers, that could be LinkedIn. That could be from you know your phone book. That could be from an existing database at work.

Now there could be several different things. This is an example, but you can see, there are a couple of email columns, but this is just a demo of a demo file that we downloaded from Facebook.

We have a few different emails, and we have their phone numbers, we have. I don’t know what that is.

So there, I have some user IDs for Facebook. Looks like first name, last name, zip code, the city. Looks like a state so that you can see. We have all this information, date of birth, year of birth, gender, all that stuff. Now what we want to do here is we want to take the emails first and, like guys, you don’t need all this information. One of the most important things I would say is one of the email addresses.

Honestly, that’s probably all you need to know, and it would be right now just with somebody’s email address, Right.

The phone number is excellent, the first name is great, but those are not necessities. We’re going to do initial is we’re going to take those emails and then go through them first thing and upload them into your CRM. That way, you can go through them and communicate through email marketing.

What are we going to do?

We use our salon kg CRM. All we would do is come here, into this leads section. I would go and import my leads, or you can easily sync with all your Gmail contacts, which makes it super friendly and easy, or import the leads, and you can see them all flowing in right now.

The reason we want to do that is so that when we go through, and we’re going to send an email. We can see the history of that email with Dwayne. He opened the email, and it shows which email was opened. Okay, so you can see that the email has been delivered.

If he clicks on a link in the email, they show if he clicks on the breakdown link or all those things. So that’s valuable information that you want to know. So what I like to do is I typically send out my first email, and it’s a straightforward, primary email where the subject line says, “Quick question.” Let me show you how I type that in really quickly.

We’re going to go over here to email and hit crazy mail and say, “Quick question.” So very simple. But it gets a very high open rate of people clicking on those emails and opening them.

And then I say are you still interested in generating leads for your business, or if you’re a real estate agent? Are you still interested in getting a home in 2018, or are you still interested in selling your home in 2018, or whatever your business is, and then you go through that.

You get a fantastic response rate like this, as we did this last week or two weeks ago. I can’t remember exactly when, but we saw about 10 to 15% of other people we sent the emails to respond to.

So if you put that in perspective, if we sent it out to a thousand email addresses, we would have 100 to 150 responses from what we did. That’s pretty amazing, and it’s all 100% free. All you have to do is take your existing database and upload it into a CRM.

Just like our celebration here, the throwing out,

The email is very quick, straightforward to do, and so that’s the first thing I would do right now.

The second thing I would do when you’re marketing your small business is going through

Take the same database, the same list, because those people tend to be people who know you, like you, and trust you. So that’s your warm market, right.

And I would upload that into Facebook as a custom audience in your Ad Manager.

Now, I’m going to show you exactly how to do that. We’re going to go into the Ads Manager at the top of the search bar, and we’re going to click on Audiences. That’s “Recently Used,” or you can type in “Audiences.” So we’ll click on that.

A window will pop up, and we’ll say, “Create an audience.” Okay, so we want to create a custom target group, and then from here, we have this customer file.

Remember, we have all the email addresses, and you can’t upload phone numbers and all that stuff to Facebook, but we’re just going to say: customer file.

Do we say add customers from your file or copy and paste data? Okay, so you can upload a file. That’s I download the file template. I select all these email addresses, come back here, and paste them here. That’s what this is, or you can copy and paste all the email addresses, so that’s usually what I do, just because it’s friendly and accessible.

As you can see, there’s not much. Ideally, you might want to have a couple hundred, and if you’ve been in business for a while, I’m sure you have many different email addresses.

You can go through and throw it in there, or on any existing contact database, or there is an option on LinkedIn. You can export all your contacts, your can export their names, phone numbers, and email addresses, and that’s a great place to go through and upload that.

So we’ll say Audience Name, we’ll say Demo Audience right there. We’ll hit next, And then we’ll say upload and great, so that might give us air. I guess these are Facebook emails, but they are.

I don’t think they’re genuine. So, anyway, from here we can go through and create an ad and with just a dollar a day: okay spending, a dollar a day,

So that’s $30 a month and $365 a year. We can go through and get our ads in front of these people, and we can get in front of them on Facebook and on Instagram, which is super powerful because those are two of the most extensive social networks right now, and so for just a dollar. That’s huge! Per day, you can get your message in front of those people.

Exactly, so we can go through, we can generate leads from that. We can send them to our blog or our website, whatever industry you’re in, you can send them a blog that they can read and educate them, nurture them, build more relationships, create more value, and all that stuff.
